I’m Sue, and for many years, I’ve struggled with a significant problem: finding wider fitting shoes that not only fit, but are comfortable as well.
Having battled with arthritis for many years, especially in my ankles, I know first hand the importance of having footwear that not only fits well but also supports my feet during daily activities.
Finding the right footwear has taken a lot of trial and error aside from the huge expense.
Following ankle replacement surgery, searching for the right pair has been extremely frustrating, and it made me wonder how other people managed with swollen, flat or wide feet.
My orthopaedic Consultant suggested rocker bottom shoes for everyday walking but I struggled to get any shoes to fit, let alone rocker bottoms!
For some people, I expect that the swelling subsided relatively quickly, and maybe those lucky ones manage with their existing footwear. I certainly could not.
I knew that I couldn’t be the only one with this problem and that many people, like you and I, must be facing similar challenges.
Lack of knowledge regarding sizing issues and specialist shoe suppliers has forced many of us to either settle for ill-fitting shoes or compromise on style and comfort.
The thing is, people who haven’t had foot surgery, don’t understand how painful it is to keep trying on shoes and taking them off. This is, in my opinion why we settle for something that isn’t suitable………because it hurts!
Because of my own personal experience, I have tried to make it my quest to make a difference, not just for myself but for others who suffer the same ordeal. I became passionate about finding the ideal mix of comfort, style, and support for other people with similar needs.
This passion was the driving force behind the creation of my site, an endeavour that has brought me both personal satisfaction and another way to connect with others.
And so, the idea for Wider Fitting Shoes came about. The concept wasn’t just about finding footwear, but about crafting solutions that cater to a specific and often underserved group of people.
In the next section, I’ll delve into how this passion transformed into a site dedicated to enhancing lives, one step at a time. (pardon the pun)
The Creation of Wider Fitting Shoes
The journey to launching Wider Fitting Shoes really has been enlightening.
It all started when I realised there was a pressing need for footwear that truly catered for the complex nature of wider feet. That, combined with specific health requirements, like those caused by arthritis or foot surgery, made buying a nightmare
My approach is unique and informative, based on my own personal experience and genuine empathy for the problems others face daily.
This isn’t just about business; it is a mission to make life easier for many through providing education and shortcuts to comfortable and supportive footwear.
Utilizing feedback from real people, extensive research, personal experience and the latest in footwear technology, I an still finding solutions that meet the diverse needs of fellow sufferers. The focus is clear: comfort without compromise and style that doesn’t sacrifice fit.
My core values at Wider Fitting Shoes are concentrated on quality, comfort, and community. I believe in shoes that enhance the quality of life by matching good design with practical functionality. Every pair of shoes should adapt to your needs, and not the other way around.
Wider Fitting Shoes is more than just a website; it’s a community for those whose needs have been long overlooked. I am proud to see how the brand is growing and making a real difference to people’s lives.
Beyond Shoes: A Peek into My World
While Wider Fitting Shoes is a significant part of my life, there’s much more to my journey. Living with arthritis has taught me empathy, a value that affects my daily life and work. I’ve learned to find solace, through challenging pain and discomfort, whilst focusing on helping others.
When I’m not working, I keep myself busy in activities that refresh and inspire me. I love gardening, which gives me the chance to connect with nature while keeping active in a way that’s relatively gentle on my joints.
I also enjoy sewing, which, allows me to relax and take the weight off my feet after a busy day.
Through sharing my story, my goal is to provide a sense of community and understanding. If you’re on a journey similar to mine—whether dealing with arthritis or searching for the right pair of shoes—know that there is support here, and I’m always available to help make that search easier and more fun.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about my life and the story behind Wider Fitting Shoes.
I hope to continue making a positive impact and welcome you to join our supportive community.
